Southern Energy Credit Union Foundation Donates $133,000 to Local Nonprofits

The Southern Energy Credit Union Foundation announced and delivered $19,000 donations to seven charitable organizations. The recent donations, totaling $133,000, were part of the Foundation’s 2024 distribution of funds in support of its mission to empower the organizations working to strengthen our communities by addressing the needs of individuals within them.

Check presentations took place at Southern Energy Credit Union’s 71st Annual Meeting of the Membership on Thursday, April 10, 2025. The recipient organizations included:

“Since we established our Credit Union Foundation in 2021, we’ve been able to expand our giving each year to include organizations who are the ones working every day to provide resources and make a difference in the lives of so many individuals and families in need,” said Derrick Ragland, Jr., President, and CEO of Southern Energy Credit Union and Chairman of the Board for the Southern Energy Credit Union Foundation.

Ragland continued, “The nonprofits here tonight are doing essential work for our neighbors in need, from closing the healthcare and homeownership gaps to providing refuge to women, children and families who are victims of abuse. Each organization was personally chosen by a member of our Foundation Board of Directors, and we’re honored to play a small part in helping them enact their missions.”
